After Your Child’s Surgery

Following surgery, our nurses closely monitor your child’s condition. As your child’s condition improves, he or she may be moved from a regular hospital bed to a recliner, where your child may watch television, eat a snack, read, or rest. Recovery time will vary, according to the type of surgery.

The day after your child’s surgery, one of our nurses will call to learn how your child is feeling. It’s normal for your child to feel tired or weak for a few days because some effects of anesthesia last up to 48 hours.
